rpm2git, another great gift from Novell to you

The always awesome Fredrico just published a cool little tool that overloads the patch command used in RPM spec files to attach patches as a seperate branch to a given release tag on a git tree. All that is required is a little bit of metadata in the patch file, so a shortterm investment for contributors and then you have a git tree with commented commits representing each of your patches.

Along with this cool little program was also the announcement that OpenSUSE will be publishing all their patches like this in the near future. Hopefully using this will make it easier to merge patches back upstream and to migrate bugfixes across distributions.
